![]() ![]() The number is Al's IL driver's license number. This was once Al Capone's pistol that was seized by The Chicago Police. ![]() There's a worn and pitted, broken-gripped example offered at $355 with no bids here: I think it would be worth a lot more without that electropenciling, but what is it worth now? Sometimes I think I could offer $350 for it, then I think I still couldn't stand to look at it, and could I ever re-sell it? Then I think the uncracked grips are worth a lot right there. The guy says he has "about $450 in it", which I take to be his hint at a price. Bit of holster wear around the muzzle as shown. If so, that department should be sued for the loss of value, PLUS a million bazillion bucks for the mental anguish, and general crime against humanity.īut what is the lost value? I think it's all numbers matching, original magazine, and un-cracked grips. ![]() The guy selling it seems to think it's a driver's license number, but a police evidence/property number seems more likely. That's the best guess I have for what happened here. I've heard that some police property rooms do that to every gun that shows up.
